How to reference a journal article using Falmouth Harvard Style

The information you need  when referencing a journal article: 

• The author(s) of the article 
• The year of publication 
• The title of the article 
• The title of the journal 
• The volume and issue number of the journal 
• The page range of the article, i.e. the page it starts from to the page it finishes. 

The information goes in this order:  

1. The author’s surname,
2. then their first name.
3. This is followed by the year the article was published.
4. Then the title of the article followed by 
5. the title of the journal it appears in and then
6. its volume and issue number.
7. Finally, the page range of the article within the journal - . the page it starts from to the page it finishes. 

To punctuate a reference for a journal article: 

• The surname of the first author is written all in capitals, followed by a comma - ,
• The first name or initial of the author is followed by a full stop - .
• The year of publication is followed by a full stop - .
• The title of the article is placed within single inverted commas, and followed by a full stop - .
• The title of the journal is in  italics, followed by a comma - ,
• The volume number is followed by the issue number of the journal which is placed within brackets ( ), followed by a comma - ,
• The page range of the article, i.e. the page it starts from followed by a hyphen - and the page it finishes on, followed by a full stop - .

SURNAME, Name. Year. 'Article Title'. Journal Title. Volume# (Issue#), Page#-Page#.

To cite a journal article within your writing

Place the in-text citation where you refer to the article. Use the author’s surname and year of publication followed by a page number if referring to a specific page in the article.
